Bank Management Simulation (BMS) is an interactive computer bank management simulation. Students assume the role of senior management of a commercial bank, involving themselves in the group dynamics and managerial skills of managing a bank in a competitive environment with changing economic conditions. BMS is a capstone course for third year students.
The participants develop a better understanding of the sources and uses of funds and their alternative investment strategies. Participants make decisions affecting the investment portfolio, deposit generation, lending function and capital funding. Upon completion, the participant should understand maximizing tax free income, interest rate sensitivity, funds and capital management and the role of the CEO in managing people, setting goals, forecasting results and measuring performance.
BMS is designed to provide you with experience in managing a bank and using all the skills you have learned in your previous years at GSBC. You will be a member of a bank team with general management responsibilities. Your bank will compete for loans and deposits with other financial institutions in your market. Your team will manage an investment portfolio, manage capital and allocate physical and human resources. Economic conditions will change and through it all, you will be required to stay in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
