The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC) is pleased to announce Roger Guerin, senior vice president, comptroller and chief financial officer for Sanford Institution for Savings in Sanford, Maine as the 28th recipient of the James C. Scarboro Award.

Scarboro co-founded GSBC—formerly the Colorado School of Banking—in 1950, and died in 1973. In his honor, the GSBC Board of Trustees honors a commercial banker who has provided outstanding leadership to the banking community with this award.

Guerin is a 1987 honors graduate of GSBC and has served on the faculty of its Bank Management Simulation course for 30 years. Guerin will accept the award at GSBC’s 67th Annual School Session graduation celebration in Boulder, Colo.

“Roger’s enthusiasm and dedication to GSBC and banker education is tremendous,” said GSBC President Tim Koch. “We’re pleased to be able to show our gratitude by honoring him among students, fellow faculty members and friends.”

Guerin graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting, and worked formerly for 11 years as a principal bank examiner for the State of Maine Bureau of Financial Institutions. He is a trustee of the New England School of Financial Studies, Babson College, and a former faculty representative on the GSBC Board of Trustees.
