GSBC is pleased to announce Robert “Bob” Slade as the 32^nd recipient of the James C. Scarboro Award.

The James C. Scarboro Award, named for one of the co-founders of GSBC, is awarded by the school’s board of trustees to a community banking advocate who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a passion for banker education throughout his or her career. The GSBC Board of Trustees voted to award the 32^nd Scarboro Award to Robert “Bob” Slade on April 5, 2024.

Slade’s professional experience spans over 25 years in psychology, human resources management, organizational development and executive coaching. Throughout his career, he held executive level positions at Hewlett Packard Company, Poudre Valley Health System and New Belgium Brewing Company.

Slade’s work in the banking industry began in 2001 upon joining the GSBC faculty, where he served as a key contributor to its leadership curriculum and the development of its state-of-the-art Executive Development Institute for Community Bankers®. He also served on the faculty of the Pacific Coast Banking School, the Office of Personnel Management and the Western States Management Development Center. Slade holds a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and a master’s degree from the University of Denver.

“Bob’s extensive education and experience in leadership development continues to have a significant impact on the bankers and regulators who attend GSBC’s summer session and Executive Development Institute for Community Bankers®,” stated GSBC President & CEO Michael Stevens. “He has been a friend and mentor to many of us and we are grateful for his steadfast commitment to GSBC.”

Slade was recognized during GSBC’s 73rd Annual School Session in Boulder, Colo., on July 24.
