Kevin Erickson, market president of Independent Financial in Longmont, Colo., has been elected chair of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC) for 2022-2023.
“GSBC’s vision is to educate community bankers from the across the county to be able to go back to not only lead in their banks, but to also lead in their communities,” said Erickson. “At GSBC, we continuously innovate our educational content, as well as the methods of delivery, to best prepare bankers for the rapidly changing banking industry. This next year, our bankers will be faced with many economic and industry threats and opportunities. Through the education and networking opportunities provided by GSBC, they will be better prepared to face those challenges.”
Erickson, who has been a banker in Boulder County since 2001, is a graduate of the University of North Dakota with a finance degree and holds a MBA from the University of Colorado Denver. He has held various board positions with local nonprofits and currently sits on the boards of GSBC as a trustee, YMCA of Boulder Valley and is an officer of the Colorado Bankers Association.
Erickson is a 2005 graduate of GSBC. Upon his graduation, Erickson was on the GSBC Alumni Advisory Board, serving as the Alumni Association Chair from 2009-2015. He was appointed a trustee in 2015.
Erickson succeeds Kim Schroll of NebraskaLand Bank in North Platte, Neb. as GSBC chair.
