(L to R): Barry Lockard & Allen Chaffee
You never know what meeting someone at GSBC will lead to! Read Allen Chaffee’s and Barry Lockard’s story of going from GSBC acquaintances, to friends, to coworkers (written by Allen Chaffee, Market President, Greater Omaha, Cornhusker Bank):
“At the 2011 GSBC Annual School Session, I met Barry Lockard (both from Nebraska) and we struck up an instant friendship. Throughout our two mutual years at school and beyond, we stayed in touch, always catching up on each other’s families, interests and, of course, our main commonality – banking.
In January 2018, an opportunity arose for me at Barry’s employer, Cornhusker Bank, to become the bank’s Omaha market president, working to expand the bank’s Omaha presence. Barry and I went from friends to coworkers by nurturing a friendship that was passionate about community banking, and the rest is history! Both Barry and I have remained involved in GSBC; I am proud to say my friend, Barry, currently represents Nebraska on the GSBC Board of Trustees.”
This story is an installment in GSBC’s “Celebrate 70” campaign, which aims to engage the school’s students, alumni, faculty and supporters in a year-long commemoration of its history, accomplishments and traditions.
