BOULDER, COLO. – The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC) will host its 2019 Jentz Fellowship recipient, Maggie Abney, executive-in-resident for banking and financial services at Eastern Kentucky University, at the 69^th Annual School Session this July.

The Jentz Fellowship was created in memory of the late Gaylord Jentz, Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas and longtime GSBC business law instructor. The fellowship is awarded annually to a college professor who has an interest in banking to attend one week of its Annual School Session. The objective is to introduce a relatively new academic to the issues facing community bankers and to assist the recipient in identifying potential research topics. 

Abney spent 17 years in banking and financial management before discovering her passion for inspiring young graduates to pursue careers in banking. She brings the real world into the classroom by collaborating with industry leaders to create experiential learning opportunities for her students in undergraduate finance courses.

Abney serves as the Director of the Undergraduate Banking Program at Eastern Kentucky University and chairs the EKU College of Business Banking Advisory Committee. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Certification in Treasury Management (CTP).
